Some families will be eligible to receive tutoring vouchers to help school-aged students get better at reading. It is part of an effort by the Louisiana Department of Education to improve literacy.
The Department of Education has invested $40 million in the Steve Carter Literacy Tutoring Program. Public school students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade are eligible to take part. This is part of a plan to tackle Louisiana’s literacy crisis.
The program is the result of Act 415 of the 2021 Legislative Session (RS 17:4032.1).
