The Louisiana Red Cross Needs Volunteers

The American Red Cross serving Louisiana is currently recruiting volunteers to help with the tornado relief efforts. Some Louisiana residents are still recovering from the damage and devastation caused by last week’s tornadoes. As of right now, there are teams of people helping these tornado victim find aid but more people are needed. Currently, the Louisiana Red Cross is providing aid in Caddo, Iberia, Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Union Parishes.

The Red Cross needs volunteers to fill the following roles:

RECOVERY INTAKE WORKERS NEEDED

This position helps tornado victims start the process of recovery. No experience needed to apply. Volunteers will opening cases for individuals and families, interview the client, determine eligibility and figure out a way to fulfill needs causes by the tornados. Training is provided.


DISASTER CASEWORKERS NEEDED

The disaster caseworker will manage the recovery of tornado victims. They will help the victims apply and receive financial assistance. The caseworker will also help with referrals, problem-solve and help find other means of assistance. The disaster caseworker works in person and virtually. Volunteers will be trained.
