You know the old saying.
“If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.”
Scammers have made prolific use of opportunities presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. The latest crop includes texts about “great deals” to help you rebound from the hardships it’s caused. You may receive a text offering a year of free Hulu, or a huge refund from Verizon or AT & T. They may offer deals that look like they’re from Walmart, Costco, or a number of others. These are bogus.
The message will include a link. DON’T click it! If You do, you’ll be directed to a website that looks like the real thing. It’s not. Log in with your email & password, and the scammer will be able to access personal information and hack into your accounts, even make fraudulent purchases with your saved payment information. You should delete the message & contact the real vendor.
